Hats - The Epitome of Elegance

When one thinks of "hats", the first thing that comes to mind may be the Royal wedding, which saw a cocktail of designs and colours of hats. Ones mind can also think of a "horse race fashion statement", where the ladies go all out to find the most eccentric looking hats and outfits. When I think hats, I think of my mother, who's look is never complete without an elegant looking hat or head gear. She is my Queen Elizabeth - definition of elegance.

Hat's come in different shapes & sizes, and they serve a different purpose for each event they are worn. There is a perception that hats are only for older ladies; what a wrong perception !!! I love hat's and have a number in my collection and I'm young alright!

Shingai Shoniwa - Who is she?

I bumped into a picture of this lady and I instantly got captured by her look. There is something distinct about her that just got me drove me insane... I was inspired to research a lil more about one of my instant Style Princess!

Shingai Shoniwa is an English singer who is best known as the vocalist and bassist for the UK rock band Noisettes. Though I'm not a fan of "rock", she most certainly rocks her look! I would define it as a cocktail of Afro Vintage with a touch of  Chic and a tot of Eccentric.

Her name, Shingai, means ‘be strong’ in the Shona language. She grew up in a South London public-housing estate. Her father died when she was almost a teenager, leaving her under the care of her single mother of Zimbabwean descent.

She owns this 'fro!!!

One other element that captivates me about Shingai other than her dress sense is the way she wears her 'FRO!

Note, you can wear a 'fro but it does not mean you rock it - ummh, I'm just saying. You need to make sure that everything has to go together. Your hair, your clothes and your accessories.

Solange ROCKS the vintage look in Glamour France July issue

Solange Knowles has got to be one of my favourite style icons!! I love the way she carries her unique yet tasteful fashion style. She proves that you don't have to go over-board-weird when creating your own style.

She is featured in Glamour Magazine FRANCE July issue.
Two elements stand out for me:- her fro and the vintage style with a touch of "chic" portrayed in the pictures below. I absolutely adore the prints.



I absolutely ADORE the the GREEN shoes!!! the prints coupled with the yellow coat and the SHOEs complete this look.



The fro looks AMAZING although she's gotten a bit of lip about it being "unkept". I love it... The SKIRT - need i say more? Nah...

THE MUFFINZ...

So who are The Muffinz and why have I decided to feature them today?

Answer: One of the reasons is... one of the members, Karabo "Skabz" Moeketsi, is one of my good friends. The bias is astonishing isn't it? (giggles).

The second reason is... they are the FRESHEST South African music bands I've heard in a while... their sound is absolutely appealing to my ears.

The third reason... The production of this VIDEO!!! It gives me goose bumps... Everything about it is perfect. Big Ups to the production team.

Bio:The band is made up of five personalities who are instrumentalists as well as singers, contributing to the rich experience of watching a live band with the musicians themselves as lead and backing vocalists. SIMPLY PUT, The Muffinz Live is an Urban indie Jazz Band, mixing up the beautiful sounds of light afro jazz, soul, pop, funk and lil' touch of genius to create a new type of band.
